PhD Research Project
La Vergne Lehmann, who runs the Oz Parks Dimboola Riverside Caravan Park with husband Paul, has embarked on a PhD research project at the University of Ballarat to gain a better understanding of the relationship between freshwater and tourism accommodation enterprises. La Vergne will be looking specifically at different types of tourism accommodation, including caravan parks, to find out what factors influence sustainable management practices. She is also looking at how accommodation providers promote themselves and the types of messages they give about water use.
Both the Dimboola Riverside Caravan Park and a sustainable Bush Retreat Accommodation business operated by her family near Little Desert National Park, have struggled against nearly a decade of crippling drought. Thus her interest in sustainable tourism.
The holder of an honours degree in ecotourism from Flinders University , La Vergne is a former tourism manager with Hindmarsh Shire Council. Her PhD research will focus on understanding and mapping the relationship between water and tourism in dry land areas. She recently put these ideas and research results in an addressed to delegates at a National Tourism Futures conference on the Gold Coast. "That did not cost us anything to do ... we just made sure that the infrastructure and equipment was looked after, cleaned and working as it should. By introducing some other water saving devices we have cut the cost down to half of what it used to be”. The number of travelers seeking a sustainable holiday experience was increasing. G'day John,
We recently stayed at the Oz Parks - Ceduna Airport Caravan Park in Ceduna SA, and I would just like to say that we found the park to be very nice, friendly and at $20 per night a real bargain. The amenities were spotlessly clean and whilst the park is on the basic side it most certainly provides all that the traveler could ask for. Next time we are in the Ceduna area we would have no hesitation in staying there again and I would recommend the park to anyone.

Good Afternoon
My name is Debbie Gosper & we received a Oz Parks Card from the Victorian Caravan Club re The National Caravan Clubs Rally in Elmore Dec 2010. We used the card for the first time on the 25th April 09 at the Oz Parks A-Line Holiday Village Bendigo Vic. We found it in the NRMA Tourist Guide. We booked for 2 nights but was so impressed we extended for 2 more days. Both my husband & I have been traveling around
Thanking You Brian & Debbie Gosper

Recently my wife and I traveled around Victoria for 3 week during which we stayed at 9 different parks. But the one park that stood out as the best was Oz Parks - A-Line Holiday Village in Bendigo. The service was great (perfect) and the place was perfect. the grounds were green (No dusty dirt or gravel areas), the ensuites were lovely and camp kitchen great. We would have liked to stay more nights, but had to head back to Canberra.
I have stayed at many parks including owning an on-site van for 2 years and this park is the best. Since our return home we have found out that the park was voted 22 in the RACV 101 Best Places to Stay. The grass was perfect, I know with water issues for most Australians it's hard to keep grass green, but with a camper trailer soft ground is need to use pegs. There was also no dust. Two other parks we stayed at the ensuites sites were on gravel which is difficult for camper trailers. I was also surprised at the low price and would pay more for this great park.
Some of the parks we stayed at were basic and they were Big4, Family Parks and Top Tourist.
A-Line Holiday Village should be Australia's number one park. My wife and I will stay there again.
Stephen Coles.

Just spent the Easter weekend at Oz Parks - Rutherglen Caravan & Tourist Park. Sue and Gary were the most congenial hosts we have met in a while. It prompted us to subscribe to the Oz Parks Club before we left this morning. We thanked them for a great weekend. Praise where it is deserved! Terry.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I wish to publicly record my appreciation to James and Dianne Vardy at Oz Parks - Gilgandra Rotary Caravan Park.
During a recent trip north to Queensland I took ill while staying at Gilgandra Caravan Park and had to be hospitalized.
The support to both myself and my wife from James and Dianne during this incident was outstanding together with their coordination with the RACV for the shipment of my caravan back to Victoria.
They bring great credit to the Oz Parks brand. Thank you, Les

Raena and I went down to the Oz Parks - A MAZE 'N' THINGS HOLIDAY PARK at Cowes on Phillip Island last weekend.
It is a terrific park. The wood fired pizza oven is a beauty as is the rest of the camp kitchen.
The facilities are good. Peter is building a big Chess board near the camp kitchen. I can see that the kids will have a great time on it, and the adults to. Thanks Peter McKill
